Hugo ‘El Pollo’ Carvajal (ex-head of Venezuelan Intelligence) was able to cancel Friday his commitment to provide statements to Colombia’s Supreme Court of Justice.

The trial was set for after Carvajal promised in a document sent to the judge of the National Court of Spain Manuel Garcia-Castellon, that the Venezuelan government “has illegally supported left-wing political movements around the world for at least 15 years.”

Carvajal was not just referring to not just the Podemos party (left-wing organization founded under Pablo Iglesias) but also other Latin American politicians, parties and even parties like Gustavo Petro.

However, it was discovered during the diligence on this April 22 that he did not declare that he was in Spain as well as Colombia since they are both in the process to extradition the United States. It is not ruled out that he may extend what he has previously stated in a letter delivered in Spain on Petro.

He also voiced his displeasure of the Spanish judiciary.

Carvajal refers to the current candidate for the presidency of Colombia in this document.

“While I was director of Intelligence and Military Counterintelligence of Venezuela, I received many reports suggesting that this type of international finance was taking place. Some concrete examples include Nestor Kirchner Argentina; Evo Mores, Bolivia; Lula D Silva, Brazil; Fernando Lugo and Ollanta Morales in Paraguay; Ollanta Umala, Peru, Zelaya, Honduras; Gustavo Petro in Colombia, and the Five Star Movement in Italy. All of these were reported as Venezuelan recipients of cash.

Gustavo Petro confronted this document. He requested at the time to the Court to open an investigative session to confirm the authenticity of these claims.

Petro stated that the foregoing is based on the fact I have the right of truth and justice as a citizen and that false statements can damage my reputation, my honour and my good name.”
