The Attorney General’s Office will notify General Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro (Army commander) of the opening of an investigation into him regarding possible participation in political activities. This comes after the controversial trills where Zapateiro made reference to Gustavo Petro as a presidential candidate.
The Attorney General’s Office was analyzing several elements before making the decision to initiate an investigation. This included checking that the account was an official statement of the Army commander.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has examined the evidence and concluded that General Zapateiro violated rules prohibiting members of the public force to be a part of an electoral contest.
General Zapateiro addressed the candidate on Twitter. Zapateiro also wrote a controversial post where he wrote “I have not seen any generals receiving bad money on television.” gustavo petro have seen cash being taken out of trash bags.
